Hey Occupy! Grab your lunch, grab a blanket, and join us on the lawn!

Occupy Santa Rosa is excited to host “Occupy Our Food Supply” – our 2nd Brown Bag Economic Justice teach-in, this time about GMOs in our food system and the impact of corporate agriculture on our communities.

Who: Karen Hudson of the California “Right to Know” GMO labeling campaign
Nica Poznanovich, Outreach Director for Community Market

    When: Thursday, April 19 – 12 noon – 1:30pm
Where: On the lawn at the corner of 4th and Mendocino, Courthouse Square, Santa Rosa

This teach-in is being offered in advance of Earth Day – which also happens to be the deadline for ballot initiatives – and was inspired by the work of both Occupy Wall Street and the California “Right to Know” GMO labeling campaign.

This is the 2nd in the OSR Free School WG’s 8-week “Brown Bag Economic Justice” Teach-In Series. The series will reveal everyday dimensions of the U.S. and global economic crisis, and ways to be part of the solution.

All of the series teach-ins will be held on the lawn in Courthouse Square, as part of Occupy Santa Rosa’s commitment to reclaiming public space for public conversation about human dignity and economic justice.

The rest of the Brown Bag Economic Justice Teach-In Series includes:

April 26: Global Workers and Global Economic Crisis
    • Colin Rajah (National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights)

May 3: Democracy in the Workplace
    • Georgia Kelly (Praxis Peace Institute) and a speaker from a successful local worker-owned business

May 10: Fair Trade and Grassroots Globalization
    • Scott Leonard (Indigenous Designs) and others

May 17: Building Resilient Local Economies
    • Janeen Murray(Go Local) and someone from Post-Carbon Institute or Transition Towns USA

May 24: Good Jobs and Living Wages for All
    • Bonnie Petty (Sonoma County Living Wage Coalition)

May 31: Solidarity: What does movement-building mean for the 99%?

    • Carl Patrick (Action Working Group of OSR) and guest
