    GA Notes 5.24.12

    Agenda
    Intros
    Facilitation
    Announcements:

Weds. night market is alot of fun!
    Website retooled.
Spokescouncil: ‘Super’ spokescouncil every monday on the first of the month.

    Working Group Reports:
Prairiefire Working Group: [12 on the 3rd demonstration.] — protest against vital cuts to human services.
    Treasury: Attempting to generate revenue.
Dorothy Day: Currently working on additional flashnaps. Additional meetings at 10am for Dorothy Day on thursday.
Strategy: Largely attempting to review current messaging. Also attempting to make a ‘strategy chart’
Theater/Action: Largely assigned tasks to help theater coordinate an event on the last weds. night market.
Band: Band meeting is on Saturday at 12:30 (Saturday)

Possible actions: USbank – overcharged 400$
Possible actions: [blank] farm is abusing worker rights.
Papa Del Pueblo: Tuesday at 7
Outreach/Media: Quite successful insofar as signups. Most people give contact information.

    New Business
Organizing Drive: [---] There is a proposal to grow the organization with a comprehensive organizing drive within the organization – gain new members, make headways in our goals, etc.
    Focus on massive community outreach.

    Commentary:
    [---]: Burnout is an isssue.
[---]: There is an issue of labor hour issues.
[---]: We will probably try to pull in resources from out signees. Outreach is a priority and should be a priority. Things really do need to ‘get done’. The goal is trying to make the workgroups more successful.
[---]: I am for this, but there are two things – 1.merger of workgroups? 2.The community agreements are vital and should be noted.
[---]: I am frustrated. There should be no excuses in commitment. The issues of our society are due to complacency – excuses are not acceptable.
    [Facilitator]: Facilitator’s intervention.
[---]: There are alot of people that are not ‘meetings people’. If we provide an outlet for people’s actions it might help attendance.
[---]: This proposal is good, but we should take more time to think about it. The working groups have mandates as is. I think it is the right thing. We should be behind it entirely, if we get behind it.
    [---]: There are seasonal issues..
[---]: Perhaps we should restrict the labor hours somehow.
[---]: You need not participate in the meetings to help a working group.
[---]: (Clarifying) Are you saying we should strategize what people should do this day? — my real concern with this organizing drive is that we start wisely and we ‘capacity build’ and do not stretch ourselves.
[---]: The current proposal is not radically different from what it is now. It is more of an attempt to articulate the goal of the original occupation. It is more of an intentional effort to carry forward our campaigns.
[---]: Will this create more work?
[---]: It may encompass reducing meeting hours or re-allocating labor resources toward outreach.
[---]: So, we will have a list of proposed tasks available ? The issue is that 5-6 people are being frayed among different efforts. We need to generate numbers instead.
[---]: I want to be able to choose which thing I want to do.
[---]: That seems fine. It does not contradict.
[---]: I don’t understand the proposal. I request that you rewrite the proposal in an outline.
[---]: My concern is capacity of individuals.
[Facilitator]: I am getting the feeling that we should re-write the proposal to make it more clear.
[---]: In theory we should be able to explain it to propsective outreach-ees.
[Facilitator]: We can discuss this next thursday and next sunday.

Proposal: We will make —’s proposal into a more legible and understandable format. We will discuss this over the ‘next few GAs’.
    Passes: 14yea /0/0 [unanimous yea]

Bohemian Grove Action: 17th Of July, once a month.
[---]: The Bohemian grove houses the ‘elite’ class. It is a rich man’s club. The action will be there – basically a rally. This is internationally known. It is asking for endorsement.
[---]: Is there any chance to launch an [assault by water]
[---]: There are actions planned. I will send out a meeting.
[---]: If you want to get into the Grove, there is an issue of survellience etc.
[---]: Sounds like you are asking we endorse the action. What does it mean for OSR to ‘endorse it?’
[---]: It is mostly a matter of support.
[---]: The 17th is a saturday. A delegation from Fukushima is headed to the grove. The action is looking for speakers, musical acts, etc.
[---]: Can you email the the meeting information/etc.
[---]: I am concerned about our name being attached to weird stuff.
    [---]: There is a website.
[---]: There is a ritual there that is an issue.
Facilitator: As the proposal stands, the group will endorse ‘the public statement.’

[Facilitator]: I want to reschedule the meeting so we can have a look at the formalized proposal.

    Progressive Festival:

Proposal: We should have a table at the progressive festival.
Passes: 12 yea, 2 stand aside, 0 nay

    [Stenographer engaged currently]

Proposal: Participants within Occupy Santa Rosa particpants should not schedule that conflict with General Assemblies.

Passes: [12 yea, 0 nea, 2 stand asides]

    Thanks for the notes Jesse.
Just one thing I believe the wording on the last proposal was participants within Occupy Santa Rosa strongly encourage other participants not to schedule events at the same time as the GAs…
