Hey folks! Check out this article about a creative new OWS tactic, sleeping on the sidewalks in front of banks, which according to a court decision, is totally legal, provided they don’t block entrances or take up too much area of the sidewalk. I’m not sure if this is New York State law, or whether we may be able to use it here. Either way, it sets precedent for us to argue for sleeping outdoors legally. ALSO, if we do decide to re-establish a presence in Courthouse Square or somewhere near downtown, it is possible that we could send small teams to sleep in front of the downtown banks, instead of trying to establish a full-blown camp and entering into an unwinnable battle with the police. anyway…take a look
